Shocking Strapless Wedding Dress Fiascos

OK – you fell in love, and now you’ve chosen that fabulous strapless wedding dress that just makes you look great and feel grand.

You’ve taken meticulous steps to ensure that your wedding is flawless.  You’ve planned and have timed releasing doves as a symbol of your new togetherness and as you raise you arms to the heavens, the unthinkable happens!  A wardrobe malfunction!  A Wedding Dress Fiasco!  The bodice so nicely embellished stays in place, but the lifting motion of your arms – lifts your girls too – right out of your wedding gown!

Not a wedding shot you want to share or remember!!  In fact, you’d do everything possible to forget it.

Think this is hoopla?  Nope.  Unfortunately it happened to a few brides and their not-so-nice friends posted the fiasco on the net.  Not cool.  Not what you want to happen to you.

So, is the strapless wedding gown forever out of the question?  NO.  Test the gown you’ve chosen.  Different styles of strapless wedding dresses might not to the same thing.

“What?!”  You might ask.  Well some wedding gowns are designed with a stiff bodice that appears to stay up all by itself.  This may or may not give you a sense of false security.  Try it (in the privacy of the change room of course!).  But I believe that these are the ones to watch out for.

The dress that has an elasticized banding at the top will probably provide better awareness of what’s happening, but if you’re too exuberant and lost in the moment you might not notice that warning tug either.

Solution:  plan your event carefully and your gown of choice.  Some manufacturers even offer tiny removable straps for the strapless gown so as to minimize mishaps.  The straps can then be removed for photo shoots, the reception as you prefer.

See … you can have the best of both worlds and choose your favourite wedding dress without agonizing over the “what if’s”.

A Pink Wedding Dress?

Feel pretty in pink, but a pink wedding dress? Whether or not this color is your choice isn’t the issue. Choosing a wedding gown in any color other than the traditional white used to bring frowns. Today your color and style options are not as limited as you might think.

Many online stores or retailers only have a specific style available in certain colors like pink, blue or off-white. But recently I’ve found a source that will not only give you the dress you love in white, but will also attempt to make it in the color you want. How cool is that! Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too!

They will also custom create your gown for your specific measurements. It is however a “measure and be sure” process before you order your custom wedding dress – and still at a great price.

Custom wedding gowns are not discount buys, but they can and are price competitive. But I digress.

Back to pink. Gone are the days when only white was the option of choice. To consider anything else was akin to admitting adultery or that the bride was somehow “not pure”. What a terrible thought! Who in their right mind ever came up with that idea? What about the millions of divorcees and widows. Or couples who could have married before children arrived, but decided to marry after the fact – not wanting to force each other into marrying for the wrong reasons, but later married because of the right ones? And what does color have to do with anything anyway?

The fact is – wear what makes you feel extra special and emphasizes that feeling on your wedding day. Period. Don’t settle for anything less. If pink makes you feel supremely special and pretty and emphasizes that “wedding bliss glow”, then wear pink, shell pink … or what ever color does that “Thang” for you.

Forget worrying about what the neighbors might think. It’s not their wedding!

Wear what you know makes you feel fantastic. It’s your wedding day – make it fabulous! End of story.

Cheers,

Ange

Plus Size Lace Wedding Gowns

Plus size lace wedding gowns are often a wee bit difficult to find, even if you’re petite. Why, I have no idea. But one thing I’ve noticed is the difference in cost – meaning more expensive.

Personally I find lace more romantic, sexy and yet in white, lace lends an air of innocence and timelessness to any wedding.

Let’s face it, this will probably be the only time you’ll ever wear or decide to wear a lace dress and your wedding is perhaps the most important day of your life. One you’ll remember for ever. Your choice of wedding gown is of supreme importance.

In winter, a full lace wedding dress will probably be a wee bit too cool, but may be perfect for a summer wedding or a beach wedding.

Lace wedding gowns can be full lace, a lace bodice with or without crystal embellishments and vary in every length, style and configuration imaginable. Plus size gals can easily be accommodated with a lace up (corset style) bodice.

If you’re a plus size, chances are you’re very figure and weight conscious right now and maybe even losing some weight. By ordering a tightly fitted gown that needs constant adjustment or tailoring you’ll be incurring huge costs and you still may require another adjustment very close to your wedding day.

Why not use a little caution. You need not worry quite so much if you choose a lace up or cinch-style bodice. It will give you some leeway, save you money in the long run and give you peace of mind.

To enhance the beauty of the lace against your skin, get yourself to a tanning salon for a soft golden glow. I don’t recommend any of the artificial tanning products out there as they often leave stains on clothing and it will ruin your beautiful dress. Please don’t use these products as even just trying your dress on before the wedding can leave stains you can’t remove.

I know that some cultures use henna as a staining agent for wedding body embellishment. If you must, try beforehand – and wear a lace outfit that you’re willing to discard if it gets stained. This is a test garment to see if the color transfers to fabric. Wear it for several hours, allowing your body heat to permeate the fabric. If color is going to transfer it is usually more accentuated when you’re warm. If no discoloring occurs – you might decide to go ahead with your body decorations. But please BE CAUTIOUS.

Lace wedding dresses whether plus size or no are beautiful and expensive. Don’t leave your big day to chance!

Plus Size Brides – Online Wedding Stores Win Out

Plus size brides actually have more access to gorgeous wedding dresses online. I hate to say it, but it’s true.

It frustratingly amazing how many stores say they cater to us girls. In actual fact perhaps some of them do, but by far and away the most discouraging aspect is that for all the time spent visiting countless bridal shops, at the most one or two really had at least one wedding dress that would fit a plus size bride.

In addition to the countless hours spent walking, and finding parking even more aggravating was discovering that the shop that you discovered that actually had such a dress, was that it wasn’t even nice, never mind my “What?!! Wait 9 to 12 months??!!!” reaction when feeling desperately coerced into requesting more information. Heck, we were planning on getting married soon – not wait until Nostradamus’s predictions come true.

So, this is how www.Plus-Size-Bride.com came to be. I’ll scour the world to find and bring you the best designers and companies catering to plus size brides – and the best prices I can find. Everything from wedding planners to wedding gowns and wedding favors.
