Destination Wedding Planner Tips

Looking for a simple, easy to use,  understand and implement wedding planner?  Then grab our complementary copy to the left of this post.  If you’re looking for fabulous professional Planners Of Weddings to plan yours or what are often called Destination or Professional Wedding Planners, then here is a quick  refresher on what you absolutely need to look for before you even start looking for your wedding dress.

5 Wedding Planner Tips You Absolutely Need To Know Before Hiring Your Professional Planner

  1. Check their reputation and ask for customer testimonials before you part with any money.
  2. Along with the customer testimonials check with the BBB also known as the Better Business Bureau.  You can get a lot of insight if they have problems or not if they’re listed.  You’ll also get a BBB rating if they are BBB members.  So … check the BBB!
  3. This is just as important!  Don’t part with your cash right away.  Some  planner/consultants will want a retainer up front and others will ask for the whole amount before hand. Only give 30% to 50% of their fee after you’ve checked them out – not before!
  4. Get a detailed written plan from your wedding planner exactly what they are going to do for you and what they’re not.  This will include what’s covered and what isn’t and what theme you’ve chosen for your big day.
  5. Additionally they should indicate which venue your wedding event will be held at.  If you want them to also plan and take care of the events the day before the wedding such catering for the rehearsal reception (this is often covered by the groom’s family), if you want doves to be released after you exchange your vows,  or flower petals strewn about … all these little details should be outlined.

Now, they may not have that ready for you immediately on your first meeting, but they should have an introductory booklet or brochure about their services.  After their initial consult with you (and you shouldn’t have to pay for the initial consultation), as professional destination wedding planners they should create a customized plan written up detailing everything – ready for your review.

Now, hopefully you’ve got all your ducks in a row, you’ve asked two or three such planners to give you a detailed overview as outlined above.  And they should now give you their quote and hopefully you’ve got your hands on some great customer testimonials too.

Do not settle for an estimate!  Estimates are just a nice way of saying, “we’re leaving the door open to charge you more later”.

Once you’ve got your detailed plans in hand along with their quotes, select the one that is best suited for you both and your budget …  and then if you want to go ahead with a particular wedding planner, by all means … sign on the dotted line and get started!

To happy beginnings!
