Foods That Boost Your Libido

With so much stress in everyone’s lives these days it’s no wonder the vast majority of people are complaining of reduced libido or even a total lack of interest in sexual intimacy.

The stats are staggering.  But happily there are a few foods that boost your libido fast. And they’re extremely tasty too!

So before you go off and buy a bunch of supplements that interact with your hormones, grab your plate and load up on the following foods:

Oysters – yup that old wives’ tale isn’t a tall tale – oysters are loaded with zinc. In several recent studies, low testosterone levels were linked to low levels of zinc.  After zinc was supplemented, testosterone levels  almost doubled.  Zinc also promotes healing and lessens fatigue by reducing lactic acid build up in muscle tissues. Hurrah for oysters!

Celery? Surprisingly, yes! Maybe we should take a cue from this veggie’s crispness? Apparently it contains androsterone a hormone important in reinforcing the libido.

Grab a chunk of good ole’ “chocolate”. Long touted as an aphrodisiac in days gone by. In spite of the hoopla cocoa contains many compounds that improve mood, relieves negative emotions, including a compound that replaces dopamine – the neurotransmitter associated with euphoria and sexual pleasure. Yay cocoa!

What better food to pair with chocolate than “strawberries”? No joke! Besides their striking red color strawberries are loaded with several vitamins and minerals, including 18 amino acids and a couple of mood enhancers like tryptophan and phenylalanine as well as a few other things that are important to health. OK, and of course most people find the color red sexy too!

And what better way to relax after or start with – a hot cup of java! Caffeine is a stimulant! Course there are other stimulants out there, but who can resist a hot steaming cup of strong coffee with a hint of chocolate?

These foods are generally easy to get at your local supermarket and pack a whole lot of stress busting feel good.

Cheers,
Ange
