Easter Weddings

Easter is popular time for weddings and although I have no excuse I’ve been off finding new styles and designs which I hope I can add to the line up soon.

Please bear with me … I’ve also been in the process of getting my kitchen remodeled so I can have more work space.

What seems to be most popular right now are two extremes …

The number one favorite wedding gown right now in the market appears to be the cathedral wedding gown, and equally popular is the “beach” or “destination” wedding dress as it’s more popularly known.

I’m working on it!!!!

Have a great day!

6 Quick Tips To Help You Choose The Perfect Plus Size Wedding Dress

Here are 6 Quick Tips to help you choose the perfect “plus size wedding dress”. So let’s get to them!

1) Choose a style that lengthens your image. For example, if you have a short neck, do not select a gown with a high neck or a dress that has a lot of poofy paraphernalia at the neck. If you go against this – you will notice that in your photos your neck will appear shorter … like your head is perched on your shoulders. (Sorry if I’m direct, but this is something you need to know … especially when you’re wanting your wedding photos to be picture perfect)

2) Have you done this before? Chosen a fabric that you hate … just to please someone else? Don’t! Wear a fabric that feels fantastic to you and makes you feel wonderfully special!

3) I know I made this mistake with a dress once … (hope I’m not alone). I chose a satin that looked wonderful … but after a about 20 minutes in the sun I felt like I was in the sauna. So what’s the tip? Satin is fine … for winter weddings, for indoor celebrations where it’s kept on the cool side with air conditioning.

4) Boat neck styles … are flattering on only a few women I know of. But my perception may be different from your own. Boat neck style dresses tend to widen your appearance at the shoulders … which is OK, if you’re trying to compensate for being overly wider at the beam.

5) OK, how many of us have heavy legs? Some of us have great legs and it’s wonderful when you can show them off. But if you don’t fall into the category of legs that are super sexy, you can draw attention away from them in 2 ways and emphasize your best features instead. What are those two ways:
a) wear a long flowing gown that will emphasize your height, or your bosom, your long neck, …
b) select a wedding dress (long or short) that has a provocative rise, gather or slit in the skirt that gives you just
the barest hint of skin and leg.

And last, but definitely not least is Tip #6.

6) Be vibrantly alive! Choose a color that not only fits the occasion and theme of your wedding, but choose a color that makes you not only makes you feel fabulous … but it looks fantastic on you too!

Feel Like A Greek Goddess!

Self Confidence Is An Attribute Of Beauty

MS-M9899L

Feel Like A Greek Goddess!

Feel like a Greek Goddess!  Consider the appeal of an “Ilse of Greece” style wedding – not only will you look and feel fabulous, but all of your guests can also be participants, not just observers.

So you’ve made your decision to take action and check off  “buy wedding dress” on  your wedding planner list, but should you chose a grecian theme for your wedding day, why not allow your inner goddess to shine through?

From grecian inspired romantic gowns to lingerie, allow yourself to  feel like Aphrodite herself throughout the whole of your wedding day, your honeymoon … and  your ever-after.  Chances are your special guy will be eating out of your hand and worship the ground you walk on!

Click Here To Check Out The Most Exquisite Greek Goddess Gowns Today

Not only will you be a trendsetter, but you may also chose a “grecian day” as a special day each week or month, or as a surprise to share a romantically indulgent weekend, or for your anniversary.  To set the atmosphere just right, don’t forget fresh fruits, grapes and wine.  But to spice up the atmosphere you’ll also need a few key pieces of jewelry such as an arm band or two for each of you, earrings for yourself  and perhaps a necklace with large golden leaves (or a crystal and gold necklace and earrings).

If you’re choosing this as your wedding theme, let your guests know and make suggestions as to their attire and what they can expect or what you expect them to do.

If you choose this theme as a surprise or an anniversary theme, don’t forget your goddess gown that is flowingly chic and don’t forget his toga, or his gladiator gear!  If this seems like a wee bit too much for him, at least get him  gladiator style sandals.  Shop for a surprise outfit for him if you’ve decided to make the whole thing a surprise.  Put his whole outfit in  a gift wrapped box, and drop it off at his office for them to deliver it to him with a special scented note from you specifying time and place  …. well, I don’t need to tell you what to say … you can at least be a little creative!

Now you’ll also need just for these occasions a pair of crystal gladiator sandals for yourself to go with your gown … you don’t want to bruise those goddess feet do you?

Scout out ideas at your local antique shop for bargains to use for your occasion for items such as accent lighting or set the mood with candles.

Heck you can even craft your own aphrodite style candle holder accents easily. Head over to your local craft shop (such as Michaels) and go to the aisle for artistic painting supplies. Here you’ll find not only a selection of paints, but usually they also have rolls of gold colored foil, rolls of sheet copper and the like. Get about a foot of the thinnest sheet copper they’ve got and some gold colored paint or the gold foil.

Trace out some fabulous leaf shapes on the copper, attaching long slender stems to each of your leaves. Before you cut out your shapes, apply either the gold paint or the gold leaf. Then cut them out, entwining them as desired around your candle holders or flower vase, shaping them to your desired effect … and Voila – a custom made center piece or candle holders with a grecian flair!

Cheers!
Ange
PS -Don’t forget the grapes, wine, roses, his outfit and your goddess’ gown and your lingerie!

Tea Length Wedding Dresses Herald Spring Arrivals

But “tea length wedding dresses”? my girl friend sputtered …

Her reaction was similar to outdated modes of thinking.  In spite of old die-hards thinking that a tea length dress tends to shorten or flatten the appearance of the bride (especially plus size brides) in people’s perception, if the right style is selected, it can serve to “lengthen” your appearance rather than the other way around.  And if you have great legs, even better!

Bear in mind that belts tend to widen or square-off your figure unless you’re super svelte.  So, a shorter length with a “cinched” waist, or a flowing “A-line” will serve you well and look fabulous to boot.

As spring and summer temperatures start to heat up a light and trendy tea length wedding dress is apt to be a smash hit at your wedding, not to mention one of the top choices on many brides’ lists – especially for those Easter weddings, garden weddings and photo shoots or just for ease of wear and choice of style.

For a couple on the go with no time for multiple wardrobe changes, the addition of a nicely tailored matching travel jacket over the appropriate dress, and away you go!

Or, in addition to that smart little tea length number, add a white pant suit with a colorful, trendy blouse or top … and you’ve got your honeymoon travel clothes shopping almost complete.

These niffy styled dresses bring to mind easter lilies, daffodils, the blossoms of the dogwood tree and springtime cherry blossoms.  Kind of makes the heart want to sing just thinking about them.

Which ever dress and style you choose, the tea length wedding dress is sometimes dismissed out of hand when in fact it may suit the bride and the occasion better than the traditional long wedding gown and train.

I’ve searched wedding dress suppliers and have found three outstanding dresses that I truly love.

Tessa Wedding Gown – $ 299.00

Retail Price: 899.00
You Save: $600.00

7013S Wedding Gown – $ 249.00

Retail Price: 899.00
You Save: $650.00

The first is a slim line little number that has a light and airy effect that is truly divine. The second reminds me of Jaqueline Kennedy-Onasis, and if you take a look I’m sure you’ll agree. (It also reminds me of elegant days gone by …) And the third wedding dress I’ve chosen is more for someone of my build – smaller in stature, yet an elegant choice just the same.

Casablanca Plus Size Bridal Gowns Style 1889S – $ 462.40

Retail Price: 578.00
You Save: $115.60
From: PlusSizeBridal.com

There are more styles to choose from, but these three caught my eye and the pricing is well, much better than retail!  Gotta run,

Cheers,

Ange

Shocking Strapless Wedding Dress Fiascos

OK – you fell in love, and now you’ve chosen that fabulous strapless wedding dress that just makes you look great and feel grand.

You’ve taken meticulous steps to ensure that your wedding is flawless.  You’ve planned and have timed releasing doves as a symbol of your new togetherness and as you raise you arms to the heavens, the unthinkable happens!  A wardrobe malfunction!  A Wedding Dress Fiasco!  The bodice so nicely embellished stays in place, but the lifting motion of your arms – lifts your girls too – right out of your wedding gown!

Not a wedding shot you want to share or remember!!  In fact, you’d do everything possible to forget it.

Think this is hoopla?  Nope.  Unfortunately it happened to a few brides and their not-so-nice friends posted the fiasco on the net.  Not cool.  Not what you want to happen to you.

So, is the strapless wedding gown forever out of the question?  NO.  Test the gown you’ve chosen.  Different styles of strapless wedding dresses might not to the same thing.

“What?!”  You might ask.  Well some wedding gowns are designed with a stiff bodice that appears to stay up all by itself.  This may or may not give you a sense of false security.  Try it (in the privacy of the change room of course!).  But I believe that these are the ones to watch out for.

The dress that has an elasticized banding at the top will probably provide better awareness of what’s happening, but if you’re too exuberant and lost in the moment you might not notice that warning tug either.

Solution:  plan your event carefully and your gown of choice.  Some manufacturers even offer tiny removable straps for the strapless gown so as to minimize mishaps.  The straps can then be removed for photo shoots, the reception as you prefer.

See … you can have the best of both worlds and choose your favourite wedding dress without agonizing over the “what if’s”.

A Pink Wedding Dress?

Feel pretty in pink, but a pink wedding dress? Whether or not this color is your choice isn’t the issue. Choosing a wedding gown in any color other than the traditional white used to bring frowns. Today your color and style options are not as limited as you might think.

Many online stores or retailers only have a specific style available in certain colors like pink, blue or off-white. But recently I’ve found a source that will not only give you the dress you love in white, but will also attempt to make it in the color you want. How cool is that! Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too!

They will also custom create your gown for your specific measurements. It is however a “measure and be sure” process before you order your custom wedding dress – and still at a great price.

Custom wedding gowns are not discount buys, but they can and are price competitive. But I digress.

Back to pink. Gone are the days when only white was the option of choice. To consider anything else was akin to admitting adultery or that the bride was somehow “not pure”. What a terrible thought! Who in their right mind ever came up with that idea? What about the millions of divorcees and widows. Or couples who could have married before children arrived, but decided to marry after the fact – not wanting to force each other into marrying for the wrong reasons, but later married because of the right ones? And what does color have to do with anything anyway?

The fact is – wear what makes you feel extra special and emphasizes that feeling on your wedding day. Period. Don’t settle for anything less. If pink makes you feel supremely special and pretty and emphasizes that “wedding bliss glow”, then wear pink, shell pink … or what ever color does that “Thang” for you.

Forget worrying about what the neighbors might think. It’s not their wedding!

Wear what you know makes you feel fantastic. It’s your wedding day – make it fabulous! End of story.

Cheers,

Ange

Valentine's Red Wedding Gowns For The Plus Size

Getting married on Valentine’s? Nothing says “mine” more boldly than a red wedding gown for Valentines. Plus size or no this is over the top.

But a red wedding dress? Sure – why not? Be bold and sexy! Say “I Love You” with panache! Besides for many eastern countries red is the preferred color when tying the knot. It symbolizes passionate love and good luck. In fact – white is often considered taboo.

So cultural differences aside, what better way to say ‘I love you’ than on Valentine’s Day?

In searching for the perfect red wedding dress I found three among a multitude of choices that differ in style, embellished enhancements and price.

Personally I’m not sure I’d ever wear a dress called the Merry Widow for obvious reasons, but choice of one dress design name aside, this oddly named wedding dress offers an excellent quality and style at a reasonable price.

You could also choose a strapless, vibrantly sensual wedding dress with just a splash of white – which lends a hot latino flair. What a fabulous way to spice up such an important day!

Of course you could also choose the gown with intricate white detailing on the bodice and it’s Cinderella styling. It too is a fabulous find and you’re bound to feel like a fairy tale princess this Valentines Day.

Halter Wedding Dress: A Plus Size Gal's Best Friend

The halter wedding dress is one of the most popular styles for many brides and is often considered the plus size gal’s best friend.

The effect of the long slim line created by the halter style gown with its plunging neckline enhance your upper assets while drawing attention away from less desirable flaws.

However the dramatic backless attribute of this style does demand that you keep a toned upper body and back as you don’t want to draw emphasis to unwanted bulges.

If you’re not perfectly toned you might want a bit of help. Choosing a halter style dress that may have a bit of a corset type of adjustment at the back will allow you a bit of expandable room. And to help you along with diminishing the effects of tight pantyhose that pinch and bulge in all the wrong places, there’s a new secret weapon for women out there for a series of slimming products called Spanx. These body slimmers will keep you comfortable and tight in all the right places.

Variation on the halter style include sweepingly draped front or back cowls, or swarovski crystal embellished adornment to match your theme, mood or symbol of your union.

Styling can also range from simple to ornate giving you almost limitless choices for this popular wedding dress. They are also perfect for beach or destination weddings, keeping you cool and chic on your big day. Another bonus is that they usually pack easily and wear beautifully which makes them a superb choice. Given its versatility, the halter wedding dress is also stunning for that summer wedding or garden ceremony.

For example, I’m showing two halter styles from PlusSizeBridal.com . The first is a more ornate and lace stylish halter gown
